BIOGRAPHY
Jeremy P. Levine is a former partner at Cantey Hanger LLP and Walker, Bright & Lewis, P.C., and has been an active member of the Texas State Bar since 1994, having practiced law continuously in Austin and Travis County since that time. Mr. Levine is additionally licensed to practice in Federal Court in the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, as well as before the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. In addition to handling cases in the Austin region, he has handled numerous cases in the Dallas, Houston, Waco and San Antonio areas and surrounding counties, as well as in the Rio Grande Valley.
Mr. Levine's goal is to provide a set of personalized services for small and medium-sized business owners and larger corporations that are interested in having a collaborative relationship with an attorney that results in efficiencies to the client.
Within the last two years, he has, among other matters:
- successfully defended a large public transportation company in state district court by attaining an unprecedented motion for summary judgment;
- successfully defended a foreign-based real estate development corporation on a twenty-nine count federal court pleading by attaining a full dismissal of the case on a legal technicality;
- successfully defended a child care franchise in federal court thus enabling the franchise to continue its business independently;
- successfully attained a judgment for fraud and breach of contract against a book publishing company in favor of the true author;
- successfully forced the return of nearly $50,000 in a matter of weeks in a lawsuit bought on behalf of home builder against a home owner;
- successfully resolved bitter partner disputes in multiple cases (real estate, oil & gas, high-tech) in a manner that enabled business to continue and his clients to continue to profit; and
- successfully defended clients against the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation by assisting in the diffusion of a high-profile press release into a low-profile settlement.
With regard to litigation, over the past decade, and in addition to the above, Mr. Levine has successfully represented numerous private-sector clients and entities in general civil and business litigation, as well as numerous cities and other governmental entities in Texas Tort Claims Act-related litigation in both state and federal courts throughout Texas.
With regard to real estate and corporate law, within the past several years, Mr. Levine has represented dozens of clients, both private and public, in areas including: new business start-ups; new business applications with state administrative agencies; new business entity strategy and formation; business and asset purchases (including stock or membership interest sales or purchases); business and partnership "divorces", land use issues and condemnation proceedings; commercial (and residential) lease and license negotiations; and full service assistance with condominium conversions. Additionally, he has closed on more than $15,000,000 worth of real estate transactions, having served entities as large as Capital Metro and publicly traded real estate companies and their Texas affiliates, and as small as family businesses and high net worth individuals. Mr. Levine also advises his clients on legal and business strategies and employment issues during and after start up.
Mr. Levine graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Advertising and from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1994 in the top quarter of his class.
Prior to graduating from law school, Mr. Levine worked in the Washington, D.C., offices of Senator Joseph Lieberman.
